Pool Deck Marco Island.

UV-stable, slip-resistant, chlorine-resistant pool deck systems for Marco Island’s coastal properties. The same install standard and lifetime warranty Epoxy Guys put on every other job we do.

Pool deck coatings on Marco Island face a combination of stressors that separates this market from every inland market in Florida. Constant sun exposure at a latitude with one of the highest UV indices in the continental United States. Regular chlorine contact from both pool water and cleaning concentrations. Salt air from the Gulf that settles on every outdoor horizontal surface. And foot traffic from wet feet on a surface that must stay slip-resistant regardless of water level. Generic deck paint, pool deck paint from a hardware store, and lightly formulated coatings will all fail this environment within one to three seasons.

The Marco Island pool deck system from Epoxy Guys uses a 100% solids epoxy base coat with UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat rated for continuous outdoor exposure, chlorine resistance, and a minimum DCOF (dynamic coefficient of friction) wet rating that meets the ANSI standards for publicly accessible pool decks. Anti-slip aggregate is broadcast into the topcoat and sealed rather than sitting loose on the surface, which means the texture holds its rating over time rather than washing away. The system is appropriate for both residential pool decks and commercial pool areas in condominiums, resorts, and waterfront hospitality properties.

Surface temperature is the factor people forget until they’ve lived with the wrong deck for a summer. A dark or bare concrete pool deck on Marco Island can get hot enough by midday that you can’t cross it barefoot, which defeats the point of having a pool in the first place. Coating color and finish directly affect how much of that Gulf sun the deck holds. We steer island clients toward lighter, reflective colorways and matte or satin finishes for the pool surround specifically because they run cooler underfoot than a dark gloss, and we’ll tell you honestly at the site visit which color choices are going to bake and which ones stay comfortable. On a barefoot island the deck that feels good is the deck that gets used, and comfort is part of what we’re designing for, not just durability.

Pool deck coating applications on Marco Island

We install pool deck coatings at single-family waterfront homes throughout Marco Island’s residential areas, including Hideaway Beach, Port Marco, and Old Marco neighborhoods; condominium pool and pool deck areas in mid-rise and high-rise properties throughout the island; and commercial pool areas at marinas, charter fishing facilities, and hospitality properties. Pool deck work is typically quoted with any adjacent lanai or garage work to reduce mobilization costs. Contact us at (239) 300-0546 or via the project form.

How we work

From call to cure.

Every Marco Island install follows the same documented sequence. No shortcuts, no skipped steps.

Step 01

Onsite Assessment

Pool deck installations start with a site visit to assess the existing deck surface, check for cracks or settlement, evaluate existing coatings, and discuss the client’s slip-resistance preference and finish color. Written quote within 24 hours.

Step 02

Surface Preparation

We mechanically abrade the pool deck surface to create the bonding profile. Cracks are chased and repaired with a flexible polyurea crack filler before coating application begins. Any loose or delaminating existing coating is fully removed.

Step 03

Moisture-Tolerant Base Coat

Pool decks in Southwest Florida absorb moisture from both above and below. We apply a moisture-tolerant epoxy base coat that accommodates vapor emission and adhesion conditions specific to outdoor slabs exposed to irrigation, rain, and pool splash.

Step 04

Anti-Slip Topcoat

The UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat is applied and aluminum oxide or no-slip aggregate is broadcast and sealed into the topcoat during application. This produces a surface with permanent slip resistance, not a surface coating that wears away.

Step 05

Cure and Punch-Out

Cure time is documented per batch specifications. Walk-on is typically 12 hours after topcoat application. Full cure for furniture and pool splash return is 48 hours. We provide written cure documentation to every pool deck client.

Why choose us

Built for coastal Florida.

Marco Island’s Gulf-proximity, daily humidity, and UV loads require different chemistry than inland markets. We’ve been doing this in Southwest Florida since 2012.

UV Resistance

Florida-Rated Topcoat

Our pool deck topcoat carries a designation for continuous outdoor UV exposure. In Southwest Florida’s UV environment, this distinction matters. An unrated polyurethane will chalk and yellow within two to three seasons on a south-facing Marco Island deck.

Safety

Anti-Slip Rated for Pool Use

Our aggregate broadcast system meets ANSI A137.1 wet DCOF minimums for pool deck environments. Slip resistance is documented, not guessed. The aggregate is sealed into the topcoat rather than sitting on the surface.

Durability

Chlorine and Salt Resistance

Pool deck surfaces on Marco Island see both chlorine contact and salt air simultaneously. Our system chemistry is rated for both. Epoxy Guys have been doing this since 2012 in Collier County, and our pool deck installs hold their finish and color long-term.

Questions

What Marco Island clients ask us.

The questions we hear most on Marco Island quotes. Ask us anything else.

Can you coat a pool deck that has existing paint or coating on it?
Yes. We evaluate the existing coating during the site visit. If the adhesion is sound, we can mechanically abrade and coat over it. If it’s failing, flaking, or peeling, we remove it fully before application. We never apply over a failing surface.
How long does a pool deck coating take to cure before we can use the pool?
Walk-on time is typically 12 hours after topcoat application. We recommend keeping pool splash and furniture off the deck for 48 hours for full cure. Water in the pool itself is not affected by the deck coating work.
Does pool deck epoxy hold up to Marco Island’s UV exposure?
Yes, if the right topcoat is specified. We use a UV-stable polyaspartic that carries a continuous outdoor UV designation. This is different from standard interior-grade polyaspartics and standard urethane finishes. The distinction matters on a south-facing coastal deck.
What does pool deck coating cost in Marco Island?
Pool deck coatings in Marco Island are priced by deck size, existing surface condition, and prep requirements. We provide a written itemized quote after the site visit.
Can you repair cracks in a pool deck before coating?
Yes. Crack repair is included in the prep phase for any pool deck with active or settled cracking. We use a flexible polyurea crack filler that accommodates normal concrete movement without cracking through the topcoat. Severe structural cracking requires evaluation during the site visit to determine if repair or replacement is the right call.
Will the coated deck get too hot to walk on barefoot in the Marco Island sun?
Not if the color and finish are chosen for it, and that’s a conversation we have on every pool deck bid. This island gets brutal midday sun, and a dark or high-gloss deck holds that heat. We recommend lighter, reflective colorways and a matte or satin finish for the pool surround because they run noticeably cooler than a dark gloss surface. A coated deck done this way stays comfortable for bare feet where a bare or dark concrete deck would burn. We’ll walk you through which colors stay cool and which ones bake so you can make the call with your eyes open.
How does a coated pool deck hold up if a hurricane pushes water over it?
Better than most surfaces, and that matters on a low-lying Gulf island. A sealed, non-porous polyaspartic deck doesn’t absorb the salt water that storm surge or heavy flooding pushes across it, so once the water recedes you hose it down and it’s clean rather than stained and soaked into the concrete. Bare or paver decks trap salt, silt, and organic debris in every seam and pore after a flood event. Our system also bonds through a moisture-tolerant base coat, so a slab that’s taken on water in the past still holds the coating. It’s one more reason a proper coating is worth doing on a waterfront property versus leaving the deck bare.
